Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a safe professional treatment centered on restoring pain free movement to the muscles and joints of the body.
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
There are four stages in every consultation:
-
The case history: your osteopath will take a history to discover the details and the background to the problem
-
Examination: It is normally necessary to undress to some extent so your osteopath can examine the area requiring treatment and to assess how that area moves
-
Treatment: osteopathy is very hands on! The patient lies on a treatment table while the osteopath works on the relevant muscles and joints
Post treatment care: where necessary, stretches and exercises can be given, as well as advice on dos and don'ts following treatment.
