About me and my therapy practice

Having previously worked as an H.R. & Training Manager for 12 years, I have experience of working within large, corporate organisations and dealing with the work and personnel issues of multiple cultures and nationalities.  In 2003 I was diagnosed with an eye condition called PIC, which means due to subsequent flare ups I have lost part of my central vision. Both of these life experiences are what inspired me to start my counselling training.

Practising in Wheatley, Oxford, I am an experienced counsellor working in Integrative Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in accordance with the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) ethical framework.

Integrative Humanistic counselling recognises that there are significant connections between all approaches. It acknowledges that different clients have different needs and believes that no one single approach is sufficient. I focus on Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Transactional Analysis, drawing on other approaches to suit my clients needs.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy looks at how a client thinks and acts in a situation and how these two can affect behaviour.  We then work together to change behaviours and/or thinking patterns to address the clients specific needs.  This approach is an effective way of treating depression and anxiety disorders, OCD, panic disorder, PTSD, phobias, eating disorders, and sleep problems.

I offer short or long term counselling to anyone who needs support in maximising their potential.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, usually on a weekly basis, but other options may be more appropriate.  An initial session is held to explore your reasoning for seeking counselling and discuss the approach which is suitable for your specific needs. It is also an opportunity for both client and counsellor to decide if the working relationship is right for them before committing to further sessions.

Free on-street parking is available outside as well as a good local bus service. There is no waiting room so clients are asked to arrive for their sessions at the agreed time.

Please get in touch to discuss your needs or book a treatment.
